Ages of the Moon at the Mosaic Theatre

A gruffly poignant and darkly funny play written by Sam Shepard, Ages of the Moon tells the story of Byron and Ames, two old friends re-united by mutual desperation. Over bourbon on ice, they sit, reflect and bicker until fifty years of love, friendship and rivalry are put to the test at the barrel of a gun.

Dennis Creaghan (Ames) comes back to working with Richard and his friends at Mosaic where he appeared several seasons ago in the highly acclaimed production of The Seafarer, which received five Carbonell awards including best supporting actor for Dennis. Recent local appearances: August, Osage County Actor’s Playhouse, A Behanding In Spokane Gable Stage, The Weir, American Buffalo, and Freud’s Last Session all at Palm Beach Dramaworks and The Voysey Inheritance at the Caldwell Theatre. He has worked extensively in all media in this country and in Europe appearing at such theatres as The Guthrie in Minneapolis, Hartford Stage, The Huntington in Boston, the venerable Barter Theatre Va. And Merrimac Rep in Lowell, Mass. Appearances on Broadway include Neil Simon’s 45 Seconds To Broadway and the original Tony award winning production of The Elephant Man. He also appeared with the late Elizabeth Taylor in London’s west end production of The Little Foxes. He has done more bad television than he cares to admit to, but along the way a few good ones such as Star Trek, L.A. Law and several appearances in the perennial Law And Order.

Gordon McConnell (Byron) is back at Mosaic, where his previous appearances have included Match, Wrecks and Rock ‘n’ Roll. His work as an actor, director and producer has taken him from L.A. to London to Amsterdam, and to NYC where he was a member of Geraldine Page’s Mirror Repertory Theatre. He currently resides in FL, where he has also appeared at Florida Stage, Caldwell Theatre, Actor’s Playhouse, Seaside Music Theater, The Burt Reynolds Institute, American Stage, Hippodrome Theatre, Florida Repertory Theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, TheatreWest, Maltz Jupiter Theater, and Riverside Theatre. Recent appearances outside of FL have included work at NC’s Blowing Rock and Flat Rock Playhouses, MT’s Alpine Theatre Project and Greenbrier Valley Theatre in WV. Gordon is happy to be a member of Actors Equity Association, a Carbonell winner (Best Actor, Frozen at Gable Stage), and multiple nominee (for Blackbird and The Guys at Gable Stage, Dirty Business at Florida Stage and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf at Palm Beach Dramaworks) a husband, dad and connoisseur of single malt Scotches from the land of his birth.
