The collective exhibit Aesthetic Perfection, on view at O. Ascanio Gallery this month, features the works of Jesus Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Alejandro Otero, Victor Vasarely, Bernar Venet, Agostino Bonalumi, Victor Lucena, Hester, Jorge Blanco, Carlos Cabeza, Nanin and Francisco Salazar.
For his exhibit, gallery owner Oscar Ascanio looks to attract art aficionados and collectors from around the globe by showing the works of Op and Kinetic art masters and newer artists who are exploring and transforming the world of contemporary arts.
“The newer works represent an avant-garde generation of artists who are going beyond commonly accepted boundaries and creating a new realm of art, while redefining traditional aesthetics. Art Basel allows us to appreciate different art movements that are occurring simultaneously throughout the world. And through this exhibition, I want to do the same on a smaller scale,” said Mr. Ascanio.
Each one of the artists featured in Aesthetic Perfection have created their own artistic language through a variety of mediums, which together, compose an eclectic expression of contemporary art.
Visitors will experience a visual feast with Cruz-Diez’s mysterious and changing chromatic spectrums, Soto’s magical compositions, Bonalumi’s and Otero’s subtle monochromatic masterpieces and will be awestruck by Vasarely’s geometric precision.
Hester’s photography explores the inter-reliant relationship between man and construction, construction and the environment and the unintentional emotional response to the design process. Nanin’s works create a musical language intertwined with time and space, and Carlos Cabeza’s stream-of-conscious modality creates movement through curved, ebbless sequential patterns that often showcase the female form.
