Djawid Borower and Marlene Rose From Mar 2nd through Apr 30th, 2007Adamar South at Pop N’Art, located at the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, is presenting a new exhibition named Faces featuring the works of Djawid Borower and Marlene Rose. Born in Cologne, Germany, in 1958, Djawid Borower studied history and philosophy at the Universities of Cologne, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. As a dramatic writer, he has had a number of works performed on radio and stage in both countries. His paintings, usually done as a series of canvases, mostly involve portraits of people. The current exhibition focuses, instead, on depicting powerful emotions, sometimes fragments of faces, digital figures and written text documents. Marlene Rose was born in New York in 1967. She was educated at the Pomfret School in Connecticut, Tulane University, New Orleans, California College of Arts, Oakland, California and Pilchuck Glass School and Seattle, Washington, the birthplace of the Art Glass Movement. Rose uses found objects as an integral part of her creations of sand-cast molten glass. Her work involves myth and ancient history as well as visible traces of modern form.
