A Multimedia Presentation with Prof. FRANK COOPER: The story is a self-portrait of its composer, Hector Berlioz. Symphonie Fantastique tells the story of an artist’s self-destructive passion for a beautiful woman. The symphony describes his obsession and dreams, tantrums and moments of tenderness, and visions of suicide and murder, ecstasy and despair.
Born in Split (Croatia) Gekic is Artist in Residence and Professor at the Florida International University. He is a visiting professor at the Musashino Academy of Music in Tokyo and a guest lecturer at numerous universities and academies throughout the world. He has served as a juror on numerous piano competitions. Programs on his life and his performances have been broadcast by Rai Italia, TV Portugal, TV Yugoslavia, NHK, POLTEL, CBC and PBS, etc.As a recording artist, Kemal Gekic has won accolades in Europe, America and Japan for insightful, original views of the music.
