Reverse: Rewriting Culture is a group exhibition that seeks to review the body of work by contemporary gay artists freed from the “fig leaf”; proposing a horizontal reading of gender, sexuality, social concerns and ontological issues. This exhibition is the first edition of the ONE WAY Project, which will call a group of artists whose sexual orientation does not correspond with dominant stereotypes of heterosexuality. The exhibition is curated by Janet Batet and features artists Consuelo Castañeda, David Rohn, Eduardo Rivera Salvatierra, Fernando Bayona González, Fernando Garcia, Jonathan Wahl, Juan Pablo Ballester and Nereida Garcia-Ferráz.
MOCA’s Women On The Rise! employs methods from contemporary art to increase awareness of women artists and empower young women through creative self-expression. In collaboration with students at Pridelines Youth Services, artist and Women On The Rise! instructor Nereida Garcia Ferráz focuses on exploring themes particular to girls within the GLBTQ community.
