Sunday, February 23, 2014. 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
New World Symphony is partnering with the Miami International Film Festival to bring you a night movie screening at the Rooftop of the New World Center.
In an epic collision of food and film, Soul of a Banquet is the deeply personal story of Chef Cecilia Chiang, by Hong Kong-born, San Francisco-based filmmaker Wayne Wang. Chiang is known for introducing America to authentic Chinese food with the opening of her internationally renowned restaurant The Mandarin in 1961.
Both Wang and Chiang will be present for this Festival-first event, and while the movie itself is open to the public, a select few who purchase tickets through the Festival will enjoy reserved seating during the movie and a post-screening reception with hors d’oeuvres at the brand new Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach, and wines from the Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida portfolio.
Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach is scheduled to open this Winter as the inaugural U.S. hotel property by the luxury hotel group, COMO Hotels and Resorts. Special guests Ruth Reichl, writer and former restaurant critic for The New York Times, and Michael Bauer, restaurant critic for The San Francisco Chronicle, will speak to the importance of Ms. Chiang’s impact on the dining scene nationwide.
The event is the kick-off to Lee Brian Schrager’s Culinary Cinema program at 2014 Miami International Film Festival, opening March 7th.
