The Miami International Map Fair, the largest map fair in the world, returns to HistoryMiami, Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9. This year, the fair will be hosted in the museum’s expanded facility which includes the former home of the Miami Art Museum on the downtown Miami Cultural Plaza.

Held over two days, the fair provides the serious collector or casual buyer a weekend of browsing, learning and buying antique maps and rare books. Visitors are also encouraged to bring in a map of their own collections for an expert evaluation, attend the lectures and enjoy the exhibition galleries.

Some of the interesting, rare and decorative maps to be showcased at this year’s fair include:

Also new to the fair for 2014 is a free, ‘Map-tacular’ Family Fun Day on Saturday, February 8 from 1-4 p.m. The Family Fun Day will be held at the Education Center and and features interactive map exhibits for the whole family, as well as a photo opportunity with SUPER WHY from PBS Kids.
