Opening reception: July 10, 2013, 7:00 p.m.
From July 10 through 20, 2013.
The Shortest Distance | La Distancia Más Corta highlights the works of two exiled Cuban artists who have made their residence in Spain: Andrés Lacau (Madrid), and Pablo Leonardo Martínez (Barcelona). Both artists have exhibited extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, in both solo, and group exhibitions. Their work is also included in many private collections.
This exhibition was curated by Ileana Fuentes and Jesus Rosado, and was organized in collaboration with WDNA 88.9FM Jazz Radio. It is part of the Sweet Home: Museo Cubano project of the Cuban Museum, and is the first of several Sweet Home: Museo Cubano activities that will feature the work of visual, literary and performing Cuban émigré artists who live and work in Spain.
The show is FREE, and will be open to the public from July 10th through the 20th, at the WDNA 88.9 FM Jazz Gallery. WDNA Jazz Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays by appointment only.
Major funding for Sweet Home: Museo Cubano is provided by an Arts Challenge Grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Additional funding provided by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, The Board of County Commissioners, Memorial Plan, Bank of America, WDNA 88.9 FM Jazz Radio, and individual contributions.
