Miami Beach Cinematheque. From Jun 13th through Jun 16th, 2008.
The Miami Beach Cinematheque, located on Espanola Way in Miami Beach, presents the screening of the film Paranoid Park on June 13th through Jun 16th at 7:30 p.m. An unsolved murder at Portland’s infamous Paranoid Park brings detectives to a local high school, propelling a young skater into a moral odyssey where he must not only deal with the pain and disconnect of adolescence but the consequences of his own actions. With Christopher Doyle as cinematographer, Gus Van Sant uses 8mm and a square format to capture the realism and grittiness of the skateboarder’s world, in his most successfully realized independent film since the roots of his career.
The film Paranoid Park is presented as part of the Miami Beach Cinematheque Premiere HD Digital series in collaboration with Emerging Cinemas South Beach Premiere. The film won the Cannes Film Festival 60th Anniversary Prize 2007, the Independent Spirit Awards Producers Award and the Bodil Awards Best American Film. It features Gabe Nevins, Daniel Liu, and Lauren McKinney.
