New World School of the Arts presents One-Person Shows by Ten Graduating College Seniors

Ten graduating seniors from New World School of the Arts’ College Theater Program present One-Person Shows as their B.F.A. Senior Project. Writing, acting and producing their own 20-30 minute piece requires “verve and an abundance of creativity and self-reliance” stated David Kwiat, coordinator of the project at NWSA.

The three programs, A,B,C and will be held at the Louise O. Gerrits Theater at New World School of the Arts Thursday December 20th, Friday, December 21st and Saturday, December 22nd at the Louise O. Gerrits Theater in downtown Miami. All programs are free.

·    Program A: 5:00 p.m. on Thursday; 8:00 p.m. on Friday

·    Program B: 8:00 p.m. on Thursday; 2:00 p.m. on Saturday

·    Program C: 5:00 p.m. on Friday; 5:00 p.m. on Saturday

Joshua Jean-Baptiste’s Space Apes: Joseph was given a second chance at life, after being released from prison. Driven to educate inmates on repairing their lives, he must prove to the state that everyone has a fair shot at change. Colleen Campbell’s Time Steps: Through song and dance Donna McKechnie shares her life experiences and all that her theatrical journey encompasses. Andres Maldonado’s Final Statement: Eduardo Prieto has been on death row since he was 17 years old and after 15 years of waiting, his time is about to finally come to an end. In his final moments he confronts the people watching and most importantly, himself. Jessica Sanford’s Does Anyone Love Like Lucy?: Lucy Baker hosts a weekly support group for Romantics and tonight may not be her turn to speak, but she just can’t hold back. She has to make sure that classic romance hasn’t Gone With The Wind. Natalia Coego’s Plastic Makes Perfect Life isn’t all about fashion and glamour for this Barbie. She may just be different from the rest of them and is the first to speak up about it to Mattel™. Vanessa Elise’s Noise: An Interruption: Time is life and Amaya Lora is committed to capturing every moment, with and without her camera. What happens when time is cut short? For the past twenty-three years David Kwiat has been the coordinator of the One Festival. He is a professor in the Theater Division at NWSA and has performed with numerous local and national theater companies as well as having performed his own one-person show; John Barrymore: Confessions of an Actor in London, the Edinburgh International Festival and well as throughout the United States. He also received the Carbonell Award for “Best Actor” as well as “Best Supporting Actor.”
