Continuing the New World School of the Arts Make Art Work (MAW) series, Russell Thomas, distinguished tenor and NWSA 1998 music alumnus, will present An Evening with an Opera Tenor, working with singers from the New World School of the Arts Music division in a special Masterclass to focus on voice technique and performance. The MAW Q & A session following the class will cover topics relating to Russell Thomas’ extensive career as an opera star. The session will be hosted by Dean of Music, also a NWSA music alumnus, Dr. Daniel Andai. MAW is open to the public.

Following Make Art Work, world-renowned tenor Russell Thomas will perform alongside the New World School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir on Tuesday, during NWSA’s annual symphony concert. Under the baton of Maestro Alfred Gershfeld, the orchestra performance will feature Gounod’s ballet suite from Faust, Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italienne, Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino and Va Pensiero from Nabucco. Russell Thomas will sing arias from opera favorites including Bizet’s Carmen, Massanet’s Werther, Verdi’s Ottelo and Mascagni’s Cavelleria Rusticana.
