From December 6 through 9, 2012.
Peter Kamback, President of the League of Graduate Artist (LGA) and second year MFA Candidate at FSU, along with other MFA grad students, accomplished a goal that most artists work a lifetime to achieve. The students will be exhibiting their newest work along side of some of the most prestigious and respected artist in the world during Art Basel week in Miami 2012. This is not a coincidence, the MFA grad students are determined to network, receive exposure, and secure their name in the art world prior to graduating with their Master of Fine Art degree from Florida State University.
“This is an opportunity to show the world who you are and to reveal the artistic quality of FSU grad students,” says Terri Lindbloom, Director of the MFA Graduate program and professor at Florida State University.
The LGA group will be representing The Working Method Contemporary Gallery as they exhibit at Fountain Art Fair in Miami December 6th through the 9th 2012. The LGA group, which is part of the MFA grad program and is run by students, handled all of the logistics to apply, fund, and enter Art Basel. These students are driven and do not take no for an answer. The result: an exclusive opportunity of real life experience in the most important art event in the country.
The expectations for the trip are common among the group and everyone is ready to exhibit in Miami. LGA, Working Method Contemporary Gallery, and the MFA graduate students have established groundbreaking possibilities not only for themselves, but for future graduate students as well.
The Working Method Contemporary is an art space located within the Railroad Square Art Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The Gallery is provided by the Florida State University Department of Art to the approximately thirty graduate students pursuing a Masterʼs Degree in Studio Art. The gallery is completely student volunteer run, and operates as a non-commercial space dedicated to showing recent works and collaborations by current students. Each First Friday of every month the gallery opens a new exhibition.
