Shutter: Selected Photography and Film from the CINTAS Foundation Fellows Collection

The Freedom Tower at MDC. From May 18 through October 5, 2012.

The Miami Dade College (MDC) Art Gallery System is presenting Shutter: Selected Photography and Film from the CINTAS Foundation Fellows Collection, at its National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower.

Featuring more than forty works by influential artists including Anthony Goicolea, Luis Gispert, Felipe Dulzaides and Gladys Triana, Shutter exemplifies the broad history and transformative mediums of still photography and film within the CINTAS Foundation Fellows Collection. The prevalence of medium in still and moving images has redefined the history of collecting for the CINTAS Foundation and reflects the vision and multidisciplinary approach to the contemporary artists it supports.

The CINTAS Fellowship Program encourages creative development in architecture, literature, music composition and the visual arts. The Foundation was established with funds from the estate of Oscar B. CINTAS (1887-1957), the former Cuban ambassador to the United States, a prominent industrialist and patron of the arts. In June of 2011, the CINTAS Foundation entered into an extended loan to MDC’s Art Gallery System (AGS) of the CINTAS Fellows Collection, comprised of nearly 300 pieces by artists of Cuban descent living outside Cuba who have received prestigious CINTAS Fellowships, awarded since 1963.
