May 6, 2012. 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Back by popular demand, Dance Now! Miami returns to the Bass Museum of Art May 6 for The Ekphrasis Project, presenting poignant and edgy works based on the current exhibitions. This migrating site-specific event is a unique dance and art experience conceived and created by DNM Directors Diego Salterini and Hannah Baumgarten.
The performance bring to life the potency of the work through the art of movement and will not only resonate with the art, but also reflect architecture of the museum, enhancing the experience of the audience by drawing attention to unique elements of the museum.
Past year’s presentations were met with critical and public acclaim and the event packed audiences into spaces throughout the museum and its beautiful grounds. “…a visually surprising embodiment of the artist’s struggle to bring an idea into form…. “ (Annie Hollingsworth http://www.artburstmiami.com/author/annie-hollingsworth, Artburst Miami).
“The marriage of the performance pieces with the installations created such an intense symbiosis of visual and physical texture that you could have easily believed the curator always had it in mind to present the artwork with the dancers. ” (Miguel Estefan, Miami Art Guide).
Each performance will include several separate and complete dance works, migrating through the museum, and will run approximately 60 minutes. This special event is not to be missed!
The concert is free with museum admission. Free for Miami Beach residents; $8 general admission $6 senior/student.
