The Bill Cosford Cinema at the University of Miami presents the Miami premiere of “The Cremaster Cycle”, a five-part art film series extravaganza from the experimental and unconventional mind of artist and director Matthew Barney. The Cremaster Cycle blends allegory, avant-garde art, symbolism and shocking visuals to explore the creation of art and the metaphorical journey toward fully developed form. The New York Times calls Matthew Barney “the most important artist of his generation.”
The Cremaster Cycle will be screened as part of the Cosford Cinema’s “Shock Me, Shock Me, A Cinema of Transgression Series”. Tickets are $9, with discounts for seniors, students and UM employees. Free for UM students with ID.
Showtimes are: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 – Cremaster Films 1 & 2; Friday, March 30 – Cremaster Film 3 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 31 – Cremaster Films 1 & 2 at 1:30 p.m., Film 3 at 4 p.m., Films 4 & 5 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, April 1 – Cremaster Film 3 at 1 p.m. Films 4 & 5 at 4:30 p.m., Films 1 & 2 at 6:30 p.m., Films 4 & 5 at 9 p.m.
