Story of a Soldier. From Mar 8th and Mar 9th, 2008.Project Copernicus and Ground Up and Rising announced their upcoming performances "Story of a Soldier," a concert experience melding classical music and theatre. Project Copernicus’ stirring musical performances will be complemented by compelling theatrical interpretations from Ground Up and Rising. "Story of a Soldier" will be performed at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8th in Miami Beach and at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9th in West Palm Beach.
A performance in two acts, "Story of a Soldier" begins with the world premiere of Project Copernicus’ Steve Danyew’s original composition, "Letters from Iraq." Steve Danyew's poignant piece incorporates music and performances drawn from four actual letters home written by fallen soldiers of the Iraq conflict. The performance continues with Igor Stravinsky’s masterpiece, "A Soldier’s Tale." Stravinsky's work presents the surreal tale of a young, idealistic WWI soldier whose soul is being vied for by the very Devil himself. The concert commemorates the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War, and honors those fallen soldiers, and all those who are bravely serving our nation.
