Tim Yankosky, an award-winning artist from San Francisco, has created a most unconventional body of fine art, utilizing found objects: vintage, measuring tapes. At a time when so many people are conscious of recycling, Yankosky has tapped into a niche of days gone by and created an ultra contemporary style that would fit quite comfortably in any distinctive space.
The works are a panorama of a neutral variety of colors and tones: faded blacks, silvers and grey, along with a touch of the authentic rusty-colored patina, all appearing on the surface of the vintage measuring tapes. The artist cuts strips and arranges the patterns of tones. Yankosky also uses small nails with heads, which adds another irregular, repetitive texture and adds to the allure. The quality workmanship measured and specific, meticulous and precise, are all characteristic of each and every creation.
Originally from San Francisco the artist now resides in South Florida. Yankosky’s work has been featured in various exhibitions and galleries in the United States.
