Tigertail Productions is launching Tigertail, A South Florida Poetry Annual: Selected Collective, Poetry, Prose and Projects by The Miami Poetry Collective. The eighth edition of Tigertail’s annual poetry publication is by the innovative Miami Poetry Collective. In the book’s introduction Campbell McGrath says, “In short, the MPC wants to rescue poetry from the airless box in which American society has locked it away, help it feel the sun on its skin again, maybe toss a Frisbee with it, share a drink or two, let it rub shoulders with the other arts, music and painting and film.” Poets from MPC will participate in the evening’s reading. Tigertail is edited each year by a different guest editor(s), and invited to create a distinctive edition by choosing poetry that echoes his or her own personal enthusiasms and concerns.
Campbell McGrath founded the Miami Poetry Collective in 2008. Its activities range from performances like The Poem Depot, a pop-up store selling made-to-order typewriter poems; to the production and distribution of ephemeral objects like The Cent Journal Series, a regularly anthology of Miami writers printed and assembled in one night. Tigertail Productions launches the first retrospective of the group’s history, Tigertail A South Florida Poetry Annual: Selected Collective.
