On Friday, September 24th the Miami World Cinema Center (MWCC) and The Big Blue and You Foundation present the world premiere screening of the One Water Workshop Program PSAs. The center will be celebrating the accomplishments of the spring and summer One Water Workshop sessions, where students were taught the different aspects and techniques of film shooting, film editing, animation and applied them to the issue of water conservation. The results of the workshops have been nothing short of brilliant, with 28 students having participated, 9 PSA’s produced, and one short documentary.
The One Water Workshop was established to give high-school students the opportunity to learn about the different aspects of filmmaking, and take those skills to communicate their ideas on water conservation. Participants were taught to shoot high definition video using the latest professional camcorders, edit their own projects on Final Cut Pro systems, and learn traditional animation skills. “We had a total of 10 schools and educational centers participating in the One Water Workshop program”, said Danni Washington CEO of The Big Blue & You Foundation and administrator on the One Water program. “The One Water Workshop program was a huge triumph based on the results and how positive the impact was for not only the students, but our overall audience. It feels we are headed in the right direction to help our community.”
As a testament to the success of the project, schools such as Miami Beach Senior High have decided to make the One Water Workshop a regular part of their academy curriculum. They will conduct the workshop three to four times a year for all their Marine 2 Students.
The screening will be an exciting night filled with exhibits, complimentary refreshments, a silent auction, special guests, and the screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary ‘One Water’. Admission is free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Miami Science Museum.
