Mosaic Theatre presents Groundswell by Ian Bruce

From Jun 3rd through 27th, 2010.

altOn the barren, diamond-diving coast of South Africa, Johan and Thami, an ex-cop and a gardener from starkly contrasting backgrounds, maintain a beachfront guest lodge during the off-season while looking for a way out. When Smith, a retired businessman, shows up one foggy night, the two men think they’ve found an ideal investor for their scheme to buy into a government-run diamond concession.

Soon, these ruthless men find themselves in a power struggle fueled by greed, desperation and entitlement. Groundswell is a psychological thriller about hunger and hope, and the glittering promises of a transforming society.

The Cast:

Peter Haig (Smith) is often lucky to be cast in challenging roles in terrific plays. He recently returned from Palm Desert, CA (Trying) and Raleigh, NC (The Seafarer) and is about to start work on The Gin Game at Palm Beach Dramaworks with his Carbonell-Award-winning colleague Barbara Bradshaw ( Why Torture Is Wrong, etc.) Since moving to South Florida to act opposite Ms. Bradshaw, Peter has appeared throughout the state in more than a hundred productions, mostly from West Palm Beach to Coral Gables, winning Carbonell Awards and nominations along the way. He is grateful for the opportunity to work with the many talented people who make up the South Florida theatre community and hopes to continue doing so until he can no longer be of service to the playwright and the audience.
