From Mar 5th through Apr 2nd, 2010.
On the heels of its recently concluded successful three-day festival, the Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association presents an exhibition dedicated to its simpler beginnings – the artwork of those “hippies” who gave the Miami neighborhood its fame.
Beginning in March, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival gallery hosts the William S. Doyle Gold Coast Collection of Original Lithographs – a showcase of works by legendary Coconut Grove artists including Meredith Miller, Roy Lohr, Sue Yue Lee, Tony Scornavacca and Jack Amoroso.
William S. Doyle, a pioneer of the printing and publishing business in the state’s Gold Coast area, worked with many of the artists to produce these original lithographs during the early 1970s. From the 15 artists featured in the exhibit, hundreds of pieces have permanently settled in prestigious locations such as The Bass Museum of Art in Miami, The Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale and The University of California Museum in Blackhawk, California.
The Coconut Grove Arts and Historical Association, Inc., a non-profit community organization under the direction of a board of directors and full-time staff, produces the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. Proceeds from the annual event help to fund year-round arts programs.
