At the Bass Museum of Art. From Dec 17th, 2006 through Jan 21st, 2007Bass Museum of Art is presenting the German Film Series in conjunction with its current exhibition Constructing New Berlin. Wings of Desire from 1988 will start the screenings on December 17th, 2006. at 2:30 p.m. This Wim Wenders’ re-examination of the divided city of Berlin, an angel has grown tired and frustrated at his inability to affect people’s lives. When he falls in love decides to leave the heavens and enter the mortal world. On January 7th, 2007, the museum will screen three short films: Emergence of Modern Art, Fashion and Design for Living and Where the Action Is: Berlin at the Focus of European Culture. The screening of Good Bye Lenin will take place on January 21st culminating the series. In this film a deeply socialist mother has a heart attack and falls into a deep coma after seeing her son arrested during a street protest against the German Democratic Republic. She awakes in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall. To protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock that would send her back into a coma, Alex must keep her from learning that her beloved nation of East Germany, as she knew it, has disappeared.
