From Mar 15th through 19th, 2006The Miami International Guitar Festival will will bring some of the best exponents of the contemporary guitar world to the UM arena in Coral Gables, FL. This year, the festival will include concerts, workshops and master classes hosted on the beautiful campus of the University of Miami. The evening concerts will present guitarists from Western and Eastern Europe, North, South and Central America and Puerto Rico performing a variety of repertoire from traditional classical to folkloric music of South America. The morning and afternoon sessions will include master classes, participants¹ recital and workshops. A highlight on this event will be the performance of Arts Flores Orchestra, conducted by Lynn Luce (USA). Ars Flores is a unique orchestra comprised of gifted students playing side-by-side with some of South Florida’s finest professional musicians. The participants caliber is what best describe the quality of this event, among which is worth mentioning Vladislav Blaha from Czech Republic, Rene Gonzalez, New York born guitarist and currently director of Guitar Program at the University of Miami, Rafael Padron, (Cuba/USA) presently part of the faculty at the University of Miami and the Miami Conservatory of Music. Many other great instrumentalists will be part of the four day event programs that undoubtedly adds another stroke to the art spectrum of South Florida.
