The Fort Lauderdale Home Design and Remodeling Show will feature an art exhibit titled: “At Home with Art: Topographies” from May 22-25, 2015 at the Broward County Convention Center. The exhibit aims to demonstrate the intrinsic connection between art and interior design while placing a special focus on showcasing works of Broward artists.
The exhibition area will showcase two features:
Topographies explores the earth’s landscapes that provide both inspiration and materials to create. Representing the Broward Art Guild, Nathalie Brenac’s bronze sculptures (made using the ancient “lost-wax” process) address aesthetic and environmental concerns. Large-scale photographs by Sylvain Denis (of Sailboat Bend Artists Lofts) capture the American Southwest – a landscape basked in constantly shifting hues and waves of light, making it one of the most challenging places to photograph. Beth Ravitz paints and stains her clay sculptures creating a blended surface. Color accentuates the modeled forms reinforcing the underlying rhythmic structure of the sculpture. Ravitz is notably recognized for her works as part of the Broward Cultural public art collection.
Marlowe Buelvas, Metal Artisan from Flagler Arts and Technology (FAT) Village presents vintage lifestyle sculptures alongside photographs by Andrew Urban. While Urban pays homage to the motorcycle basked in the sun’s perfect spotlight, Buelvas refurbishes rusted and weary car or bike castoffs, and turns them into something “kitschy” and functional.
“Following the great success of the inaugural At Home with Art exhibit at the Miami Home Show this past March, we are excited to showcase three talented Broward artists,” said Sharon Berube, Spokesperson for Home Show Management Corp. “Some people may have already seen their art around town. However, now they will have an opportunity to meet and get to know the creators. Understanding the artist’s intentions is an important aspect when investing in an original work of art.” Artists will be present to explain their personal vision and technique.
