This thrilling program opens with Paul Hindemith’s energetic Symphony in B-flat, written in 1951 for the United States Army Band and beloved ever since by wind bands worldwide for its triumphant glory. Next up, the world premiere of Rage Against the Machine by faculty composer Scott Stinson. The second half of the program features Ingolf Dahl’s enduring Concerto for Alto Saxophone featuring international recording artist Dale Underwood, and concludes with Frozen Cathedral by John Mackey, inspired by the crystalline mystery and ethereal grandeur of the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley.
