Miami Arts Cafe opens in downtown Miami

December 2008. Miami Arts Cafe. Miami ArtsThe yearning of the Puerto Rican Merly Velazquez, niece of the famous fashion designer now deceased, David Fernandez, is "a nice, cozy place, like a house where friends can come and play the piano, where we can make a ‘parranda’ for Christmas as we have fun in Puerto Rico, in a bohemian atmosphere."

Miami Arts Cafe is the first part of the project, which will cover 16,000 square feet in 2009, when Velazquez plans to open a high-end nightclub. "This is just the beginning of a dream, next year we will cover the entire building. Along with my partner, the American Raymond Klein, we are working tirelessly," says Velazquez. The decoration by the young designer based in New York, Lishka Cuina, is completely white, as the former model had dreamed about it from day one.
